Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, and Supervisor of the Counselor in Training program here at Community Counseling Center of Elk Grove (Formerly First Baptist Church Counseling Center) . Mike earned a Master’s degree in counseling from CSU Sacramento in 1980 and another master’s degree in psychology: Marriage and Family from Chapman University in 1999. Mike has been providing Christian counseling services here at FBC since 1996. He has also served as a high school counselor and career/college counselor in the Elk Grove School District for many years, and has taught “College Success” and “Career Development” at Cosumnes River College for several years. He is certified by the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) in Divorce Recovery, Remarriage and Blended Families issues. and by the Center for Applications of Psychological Type (CAPT) as an administrator and interpreter of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. He is also certified for level 1 and level 2 of the Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory for substance abuse issues and the Prepare/Enrich Christian premarital and marital enrichment assessment.

Mike is married with four grown sons. He screens and refers clients within the church’s counseling ministry and acts as a referral service to outside Christian Therapists for clients needing specialty service or insurance acceptance. He has a heart for working with couples and blended families and staff. He also works with teens and individuals. He accepts Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield, MHN, Magellan, Cigna and Western Health Advantage insurance. He is also a provider of Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services for most of those insurers.  Please check with your insurer prior to scheduling to verify eligibility and specific provider limitations.

Annette Stringer

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. Master’s Degree in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling. Annette has been a high school counselor in the Elk Grove Unified School District for the last 17 years and is currently a Student Support Center Coordinator with the District overseeing centers that assist students and their families to access services in the community.

Her passion is to provide support and guidance to couples, families and individuals. She loves working with teenagers, and couples or families with special needs children! Annette is married and has three teenage children one of which has Down Syndrome.

Carlene Mauch

Carlene is a Licensed Marriage and Family  Therapist who earned a Master’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Counseling from CSU Sacramento. Carlene is a experienced therapist who has been seeing clients since 2006 in both a non-profit and private practice setting.  She has been employed at Community Counseling Center of Elk Grove (Formerly First Baptist Church Counseling Center)  counseling center since 2012. Carlene is married with two adult sons. She brings relevant life experiences and professional training to her work. She has extensive experience working with clients dealing with anxiety, , codependency, depression, sexual abuse, interpersonal relationship dynamics, boundary issues, spiritual shaming, life transitions and family of origin issues.

Carlene has been certified to provide Prepare and Enrich Premarital Counseling and has Gottman Level training in couples counseling. In addition she incorporates principles utilized in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Carlene is considered an expert in relationship dynamics. In this role she offers a comfortable environment where the client can safely explore their thoughts, feelings, and concerns. Carlene has a deep desire to assist each individual in developing and sustaining healthy aspects of their lives and to support them in creating satisfying and rewarding relationships.

Greg Hutchings

Greg has been a counselor at Community Counseling Center of Elk Grove (Formerly First Baptist Church Counseling Center) since July 2012.  Greg graduated with his MFT degree from Western Seminary in 2014.  He graduated with a BA degree from California State University Sacramento in 1990. Greg is trained in all aspects of therapy and has a special passion for couples and families.

His approach is to establish deep interactions with his clients and use the time spent together to build a real, intimate, God centered relationship. This process will help clients tap into their inner potential that leads to a more authentic Spirit-led style of living. Greg aims to make his office a safe place for relationship focused sessions that foster growth through increased self-awareness. He is confident that therapeutic self-exploration and acceptable risk taking can lead to more productive and fulfilling interpersonal relationships for his clients.

After twenty years in the corporate world, Paige McAtee left her career to follow her calling to be a Marriage and Family Therapist. She firmly believes that the pain, fear, sadness, and hurdles we all experience to different degrees can be understood and made better through the process of therapy and the client’s unique strengths. She has a heart’s desire to help others and considers it a privilege to work along the side of others in counseling.

Paige has completed her Master’s degree (Master of Science in Counseling in Marriage and Family Child Therapy) and is a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern. She has completed additional training in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples and families).

She specializes in couple and family issues and enjoys working with individuals as well.

Roderick Tinsley is an MFT Trainee under the supervision of Michael Beckner MFC #43050. Roderick has a Bachelor’s degree in Human Service from University of Phoenix and is in the final class of his Masters Degree LMFT completion. Roderick uses person-center approach which identifies each person as having the capacity for personal growth and change. Along with person-centered approach Roderick use Christian based principles and a Christ centered relationship to come along side client’s seeking change in his or her life.

Marriage and Family Therapist Intern. Sheryl has been seeing clients at  Community Counseling Center of Elk Grove for four years. Sheryl graduated with her Master Degree program in Marriage and Family Therapy at Western Seminary. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Bible and Theology. Sheryl has a passion to help people overcome beliefs and behaviors that are standing in the way of walking in freedom and from being released into a purpose-filled life.  She is skilled in working with life struggles such as anxiety, depression, codependency, divorce, addiction, abuse, emotional trauma and spiritual shaming.. Sheryl is also committed to incorporating spiritual direction into the counseling process and operates from the perspective that the further we stray away from our created identity, the more dis-comfort, dis-content, and dis-ease we experience as a result, and this unrest manifests in all the relationships and arenas of our lives
